Ronel Lamour Junior

A Hands-On Beginning

Born in 1989 and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Ronel Lamour Junior developed an interest in mechanical work at an early age. His father frequently worked on repairs around the house, and Ronel often followed along with a flashlight or toolbox, watching and learning how everyday equipment worked.

As he grew older, curiosity turned into hands-on experience. Ronel enjoyed taking apart and repairing bicycles, fans, window air-conditioning units, lawn equipment, small engines, and other household equipment. He was particularly interested in discovering why something had stopped working and figuring out how to make it function again.

Growing up in South Florida also gave Ronel an early appreciation for the importance of reliable cooling systems. In an environment defined by heat and humidity, air conditioning was more than a convenience, and HVAC eventually became a natural direction for his technical interests.

Building a Career in HVAC

After high school, Ronel chose technical training over a traditional four-year college path. He studied air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating, developing knowledge of electrical fundamentals, refrigeration cycles, airflow, system controls, compressors, condensers, evaporator coils, motors, thermostats, heat pumps, ductwork, troubleshooting, and workplace safety.

Ronel began his professional career in his early twenties as an entry-level HVAC helper. He assisted experienced technicians, prepared job sites, cleaned components, helped with installations, performed basic maintenance, and learned through direct observation in the field.

As his knowledge and confidence grew, Ronel advanced into independent service work and eventually became a Senior HVAC Service Technician. Over approximately 16 years in the industry, he has developed significant experience diagnosing air-conditioning failures, electrical problems, refrigerant-related issues, airflow restrictions, condensate drainage problems, thermostat malfunctions, heat pump issues, and equipment affected by insufficient maintenance.

His experience has also expanded into light-commercial HVAC, including rooftop units and larger climate-control systems.

Solving the Problem Behind the Problem

Troubleshooting has become one of the areas Ronel enjoys most. Rather than simply identifying a failed component, he values understanding why the component failed and determining whether another underlying problem contributed to it.

That approach has shaped his professional philosophy. Ronel believes customers deserve to understand the difference between necessary repairs, preventive recommendations, and optional upgrades. Accurate diagnosis and transparent communication allow him to focus on practical solutions rather than unnecessary replacements or aggressive sales tactics.

His experience has also made him a resource for younger technicians. Ronel enjoys mentoring apprentices and explaining the reasoning behind diagnostic procedures, helping newer professionals develop the knowledge and confidence needed to solve problems independently.

Keeping Pace With a Changing Trade

Ronel continues to expand his technical knowledge as HVAC systems become increasingly sophisticated. He follows developments in variable-speed equipment, smart thermostats, heat pumps, connected systems, energy efficiency, and modern diagnostic technology.

He holds an EPA Section 608 Universal Certification and has continued learning throughout his career through field experience, technical manuals, manufacturer training, certification programs, and mentorship.

While Ronel appreciates the efficiency of modern diagnostic tools and software, he believes technology should support—not replace—a technician’s understanding of refrigeration, electricity, airflow, and mechanical systems.

Skills That Extend Beyond the Job

Outside work, Ronel’s interests reflect the same hands-on curiosity that led him into HVAC. He enjoys working on cars, automotive technology, mechanical projects, and maintaining his collection of tools. He also enjoys fishing around South Florida, grilling, basketball, football, music, and spending time near the water.

Ronel also believes skilled tradespeople can make a meaningful contribution to their communities. He has occasionally used his experience to assist people with basic HVAC maintenance and minor repairs and has participated in career events introducing students to opportunities in the skilled trades.

Working Toward Ownership

Looking ahead, Ronel Lamour Junior hopes to apply his years of field experience toward establishing an HVAC company of his own in South Florida.

His vision is centered on quality rather than growth for its own sake. He wants to build a company where technicians are well trained, customers receive straightforward explanations, recommendations are transparent, and strong workmanship creates repeat business.

For Ronel, the goal is ultimately an extension of the principles that have guided his career: understand the problem, do the work properly, treat customers fairly, and build a reputation that lasts.
